Reflections of Yesterday’s Dash

Yesterday’s adventures ended up being more of a blessing than I could have imagined. God blesses us each day and we are to be faithful. My daily bread crumbs this morning said, “He will have mercy and not sacrifice.” Mercy. God’s mercy — think of how wonderful and powerful that is.

Ok, so back to yesterday’s blessings. Now to share the powerful and wonderful blessing that I do not deserve; but yet, there’s God blessing me beyond measure.

A friend of mine and many others have been posting updates of a young man who was in a horrific car crash. I do not know him but through the world of social media have been kept up to date on his progress. Sister and I were running errands and then having lunch when she suggested we stop by to see my Great Niece so I could see how much she had grown and changed. So she calls my Niece and asked if we could stop by. She tells us to hurry she’s about to put her down for a nap. When we get there we are playing and enjoying watching her trying to get on her knees to crawl. She reaches for a toy next to her which was orange and Sister says, “oh, are you playing with all things orange today to pray for Matthew?” I have no idea what she’s talking about so she explains that everyone wore orange the day before to lift up prayers of healing for Matthew. Well, my niece also has a friend visiting with her and she looks at my Sister in amazment. I’m still confused and then my niece introduces her. She’s Matthew’s SISTER!!! How AWESOME and WONDERFUL to meet her. She shared with us Matthew’s progress that day and it was great! Matthew was progressing to longer times off the ventilator and his eyes were opening. This reminded me of how I felt when Sister finally recognized me throughout her medical ordeal. I was able to use that memory to encourag her for those small steps. Progress, even in the tiniest manners, is uplifting. We got to share how God has put people she never knew in the circle of prayer lifting him up for healing. We then left to finish our errands and grab some lunch.

I mentioned to Sister at lunch how amazed I was that God had put her in our path. Sister told me that God put her there to lift her and her brother and family, the doctors and nurses and all those that are caring for Matthew up in prayer. Yep, she was right. Knowing and hearing that strangers from all around are praying and lifting her brother up in healing might have been just the tiny bit of encouragment that young lady needed in order to continue to hold on to hope in God’s plan. God’s plan is not our plan. We do not know what tomorrow will bring. TODAY I will praise Him and thank Him for allowing this young lady to cross my path. Pray for her, her brother Matthew and their family. Have a great Saturday. Count your blessings and be thankful. I’m thankful.
